Memory of Tetsuya Nagata exhibition - group
Artglorieux GALLERY OF TOKYO
Mr. Tetsuya Nagata
We start "memory of Tetsuya Nagata exhibition - group" on Thursday, January 11 in Artglorieux.
In the case of auspicious events such as the Seven-Five-Three Festival and marriage, long-lived celebration, Japanese confectionery which modelled lucky animal and plant has been made in Japan from old days. Wish, "my child and family are healthy and live long" in crane and tortoise, sea bream, motif such as pine, bamboo, and plum is put. Work of Nagata is made using shoe tree and Japanese traditional making paper by hand Japanese paper "a type of Japanese paper" (nishinouchigami) which we prepared these celebration cakes into.
Nagata produced work "KIOKUGAMI" which copied things invisible as such such as personal image scenery called "memory" or the social history that we followed through the medium of paper as seen thing for many years. "wakakamisan*" to display this time is one of the series. It is space-time of existence as thing of cake mould which it continued preparing celebration cake into and human story over it that memory drawn up by "wakakamisan*" talks.
We collect shoe trees of Japanese confectionery used in various parts of Japan from the latter period during the Edo era to the Showa era, and Nagata is used for work. Many "wakakami" made with shoe tree which reflected regionality and manners and customs of each place stands. They are cast as by creativity of Nagata, and new art is born.
Please enjoy art work full of dynamism that luster and shadow such as pearl of a type of Japanese paper are beautiful.
