The first young artist in Japan and abroad, Hiroka Yamashita's exhibition "I remembered cosmos" was held at THE CLUB.
GINZA TSUTAYA BOOKS
This time, THE CLUB will hold a solo exhibition by Hiroka Yamashita, who is based in Okayama.
At the age of 18, he moved to the United States alone, graduated from a local school, and based in NY. After returning to Japan in 2019, this is the long-awaited solo exhibition. This section introduces works drawn on canvas while scooping up the scenery and emotions that can be seen in everyday life, and interlacing Western and Japanese painting techniques.
"We human beings are a part of life that has been evolving and diversity over a long period of time. Drawing a free and natural appearance as a living thing, a scene of love and life is my protest for the present age, which is superior to life and speaks people as "resources".
In this work, I set up in Japan for the first time in 10 years, depicting the scenery that I saw around the four seasons and saw on this land. I think that the depth of the space has been emphasized more than before, and the overlap between colors and spaces has increased. By drawing people who synchronize with the landscape and changing visibility, you can feel the moment when you and the outside, the past and the future, and remote spaces intersect. (Excerpt)

Hiroka Yamashita (Hiroka Yamashita) Hiraoka Yamashita
Born in Hyogo Prefecture in 1991. After graduating from School of Visual Arts in New York in 2017, he acquired MFA for Mason Gross School of the Arts in 2019. Currently based in Okayama. Through the connection between nature and people and the life of life in everyday scenes, we will work to build an image that shows the memories and properties shared by life. While interlacing the genealogy of Western paintings with the characteristic screen configuration of Japanese paintings, he challenged the story created by a new painting space and the place-to-place relationship with viewers, and pursued the expression of Japanese ephemerality. ing.
